Immigration, Family Responsibilities and the Labor Supply of Skilled Native Women

This paper investigates the effects of Spain's large recent immigration wave on the labor supply of highly skilled native women. We hypothesize that female immigration led to an increase in the supply of affordable household services, such as housekeeping and child or elderly care. As a result, i) native females with high earnings potential were able to increase their labor supply, and ii) the effects were larger on skilled women whose labor supply was heavily constrained by family responsibilities. Our evidence indicates that over the last decade immigration led to an important expansion in the size of the household services sector and to an increase in the labor supply of women in high-earning occupations (of about 2 hours per week). We also find that immigration allowed skilled native women to return to work sooner after childbirth, to stay in the workforce longer when having elderly dependents in the household, and to postpone retirement. Methodologically, we show that the availability of even limited Registry data makes it feasible to conduct the analysis using quarterly household survey data, as opposed to having to rely on the decennial Census.Immigration, Labor supply, Fertility, Retirement, Household services

La incidencia de diabetes en Almeria

La Diabetes Mellitus se caracteriza por cifras elevadas de glucemia, originadas por deficiencia en la producción de insulina y/o resistencia a su acción. Se trata de un problema de gran trascendencia. Por un lado, se ha descrito que una parte importante de la población está afectada, y que tanto la incidencia como la prevalencia de diabetes se están incrementando en el mundo. Por otra parte, durante el transcurso de esta enfermedad pueden originarse una serie de complicaciones, incluidas la enfermedad cardiovascular, el ictus, la ceguera, los problemas renales y la amputación del pie o la pierna. Asimismo, puede ser causa de complicaciones en los embarazos, tanto para la madre como para el feto o recién nacido. Los cambios en el estilo de vida de las personas, con un predominio del sedentarismo y una elevada ingesta calórica, están modificando la incidencia y la prevalencia de la Diabetes Mellitus, independientemente de la localización geográfica. Sobre todo la diabetes Mellitus tipo 2 El objetivo de este trabajo es evaluar la incidencia de la diabetes Mellitus en la provincia de Almería, mediante la recogida de datos a través de una encuesta realizada a los pacientes con diabetes Mellitus en las diferentes zonas de Almería. En dicha encuesta se ha tenido en cuenta: el tipo de diabetes, la edad y el sexo de los pacientes, el tiempo que llevan con la enfermedad, el índice de glucosa en sangre del último control, el tipo de medicación que toman, el estrato social al que pertenecen, si han recibido la educación diabetológico, zona geográfica a la que pertenecen, la adherencia al tratamiento y si siguen las recomendaciones de dieta y ejercicio

Localizador de objetos G-DROID

En este proyecto se presenta el diseño y creación de G-DROID, una aplicación móvil para todos los dispositivos con plataforma Android, siempre y cuando dispongan de conexión a Internet y señal GPS. E-commerce y pago seguro

El objetivo de este proyecto es acercar el mundo del comercio electrónico y de los pagos electrónicos tanto a los usuarios de los mismos, como a los posibles creadores de tiendas online. Partiendo de una introducción a la historia y evolución del e-commerce, así como a sus beneficios y posibles riesgos, se profundiza en los tipos de comercio online más importantes hoy en día y su desarrollo en España. Por otro lado y para complementar todo comercio virtual, es importante tratar los pagos online que completan las compras electrónicas. En el documento se desarrollan los principales sistemas de pago electrónico y la seguridad de los mismos, haciendo hincapié en los protocolos implementados por las grandes marcas de tarjetas de crédito. Relacionado con la seguridad de Internet, se ha realizado un estudio de los principales riesgos para los usuarios que realizan compras online y cuáles son los mejores métodos para evitarlos. Adicionalmente, se hace un repaso a las leyes y normativas españolas relacionadas con el e-commerce, las cuales se encargan de regular este tipo de transacciones y de fomentar la seguridad de las mismas. Por último, se han dado una serie de pautas para todo aquel que pueda estar interesado en implementar un comercio online y se ha plasmado cuál es la realidad del comercio electrónico en el continente sudamericano.The aim os this proyect is to get close the world of e-commerce and electronic payments both to the users and to the potencial e-commerce developers or creators. Starting with an introduction to the history and evolution of e-commerce, as well as its profits and possible risks, I have studied the different types of online commerce today and how these are developed in Spain. On the other hand and supporting all virtual trades, it’s very important to talk about online payments, which make electronic purchases completed. In the document, I develope the more relevant sistems of electronic payments and its security, laying emphasis on the protocols implemented by the main important credit card brands. Related to Internet security, it has made a study of the principal risks that users take when they are shopping on the Internet and of the best practices to avoid them. Additionally, there is a review of regulations and Spanish laws related to e-commerce, which take care of regulating these kind of transactions and promote the security of them. Integrated and interactive 4D system for archaeological stratigraphy

The digitization of some of the processes carried out in an archaeological excavation is changing the way of working at the site. Today, new technologies coexist with traditional methodologies. The study of stratigraphy can combine drawings of profiles and plans, the Harris Matrix diagram, as well as digitized files that perform a complete record of the stratigraphic sequence. However, this information is usually unaggregated from the rest of the information system that makes up the archaeological record. In this paper, we present an integrated software tool and the associated methodology to record, store, visualize and analyze the 3D stratigraphy of a site. The implementation uses spatial databases to store information of a heterogeneous nature and game engines for the visualization and interaction with this information. During the excavation process, the strata are scanned using the Tof technology, which is available in many smartphones. The resulting 3D model of the stratum, once uploaded to the software system, allows us to visualize the sequence of strata incorporating the findings into their original arrangement. Some additional tools, such as the scrollbar, help to perform a temporal analysis of the site. The result is a 4D interactive stratigraphy tool, which together with the Harris Matrix, complements the archaeological record and facilitates the work to archaeologists. 3D GIS TOOLS FOR SUBSOIL MANAGEMENT

[EN] Applications of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) on several archaeology fields have been increasing during the last years. Recent approaches in these technologies make possible to work with even more realistic 3D models with the so-called GIS 3D. However, these systems are currently far from being the perfect tool to integrate the subsoil management in Arqueology. In this paper we focus on the state of the art in 3D GIS for subsoil management as well as the hybrid subsoil model for 3D data management.[ES] Las aplicaciones de los Sistemas de Información Geográficos (SIG) en muchos campos de la Arqueología se han ido incrementando en los últimos años. Relating function spaces to resourced function spaces.

In order to prove the computational adequacy of the (operational)natural semantics for lazy evaluation with respect to a standard denotational semantics, Launchbury defines a resourced denotational semantics. This should be equivalent to the standard one when given infinite resources, but this fact cannot be so directly established, because each semantics produces values in a different domain. The values obtained by the standard semantics belong to the usual lifted function space D = [D → D]⊥, while those produced by the resourced semantics belong to [C → E] where E satisfies the equation E = [[C → E] → [C → E]]⊥ and C (the domain of resources) is a countable chain domain defined as the least solution of the domain equation C = C⊥. We propose a way to relate functional values in the standard lifted function space to functional values in the corresponding resourced function space. We first construct the initial solution for the domain equation E = [[C → E] → [C → E]]⊥ following Abramsky’s construction of the initial solution of D = [D → D]⊥. Then we define a “similarity” relation between values in the constructed domain and values in the standard lifted function space. This relation is inspired by Abramsky’s applicative bisimulation. Finally we prove the desired equivalence between the standard denotational semantics and the resourced semantics for the lazy λ-calculus
